IRIX... 몇 안되는 사용자를 위해
Root passwd를 잊어 버렸을때
1. 현재 설치된 IRIX CD를 준비한다.

2. IRIX를 설치하는 방법과 동일하게 Inst Menu가 나타날때 까지 수행한다.
("IRIX6.5 Installation 방법" 참조)

3. Inst 메뉴가 나타나면 admin 항목을 선택 한다.

4. Admin 메뉴에서 "shroot"를 선택하면 "#" 프롬프트가 나타난다.


5. # 프롬프트상태는 "login root"를 한것과 동일한 상태이며, 여기서 /etc/passwd File의 다음 부분을 삭제한다.
root:x:0:0:root:/:/bin/csh

6. Shadow file이 있을경우도 마찬가지로 다음 부분을 삭제한다.
root:dkflqemn2df:0:0:root:/:/bin/csh

7. Ctrl^D 또는 "exit"로 메뉴를 빠져나온 후 Admin 메뉴에서 return 선택하면 Inst 메뉴가 나타난다.

8. Inst 메뉴에서 quit를 선택하여 작업을 종료 한 후 CD를 제거하고 System을 boot한다.


** System boot 후 Password를 입력하는 것을 잊지 마세요!! 그리고, Password에 Expired time을 설정해 놓은 경우에는 Password 관리에 좀 더 신경을 쓰셔야 할 겁니다!!
